Limited edition of 100 special pieces with a two-tone silver and slate-blue sector dial displaying a realistic moon.
RAYMOND WEIL is pleased to announce the launch of “Millesime Moon Phase Special Edition” supervised by Masayuki HIROTA, Editor-in-Chief of Chronos Japan Edition and distinguished voice in Japan’s watch industry. The official launch date is October 11th, available only at ISHIDA Shinjuku, ISHIDA Omotesando, ISHIDA N43° and RAYMOND WEIL Japan Official Online Store.
The sector dial, synonymous with Millesime, displays hour, minute, and second markers on distinct tracks. Its silver base showcases exquisite finishing, accented by slate-blue hour and second tracks. Slate blue, a grayish-blue tone, is a signature intermediate color of Millesime, combining coolness and softness. The hour track features specially designed Arabic numerals rendered in white using a highly legible sans-serif font. The two-tone coloring, with a bullseye motif popular in the 1930s to 1950s, accentuates each track, ensuring outstanding visibility. Pursuing classical details, the minute track follows a slightly inclined surface structure, and the tips of the minute and second hands feature a curved finish.
The moon phase display on the dial, inherited from the era of table and wall clocks, is favored in modern wristwatches not only for its functionality but also as a visually pleasing accent. While the regular Millesime Moon Phase features a classic design depicting a smiling face on the moon, this model adds modernity by rendering the moon's true shadows based on actual NASA imagery. The 35mm case diameter, which recalls the smaller cases prevalent in earlier models, is now in the global spotlight alongside the trend for quiet luxury. The meticulously chamfered bezel creates an effect that makes the case appear slimmer. The case sides, lugs, and bezel feature a satin finish, while the top of the lugs and the chamfered edges of the bezel are polished. This contrast between the two finishes creates a sense of depth. The vintage-inspired, elongated lugs are curved significantly toward the case back at their rounded tips, enhancing comfort during wear.
The vintage-inspired crystal, reminiscent of old plastic crystals with its boxy, cylindrical shape, is recreated in sapphire crystal. Modern technology allows the highly durable sapphire crystal to be precision-cut into this beautiful box shape. The slate-blue calf leather strap features a soft, smooth feel and vintage-inspired texture. The edges are finished uniformly smooth without irregularities, highlighting their beauty. The tip features embroidered W-shaped stitching embodying Raymond Weil's initials. A pin buckle enhances the classical impression.
It houses the Cal.RW4280, based on the reliable Sellita automatic movement. Through the see-through case back, you can admire the movement of the W-shaped rotor, embossed with Raymond Weil's initials. At the 6 o'clock position on the case back, it is engraved with “Edition Limitée UNE SUR 100” in French, certifying it as an exclusive model.
